"Participating in the planning and construction of the new main building Forum Chriesbach was certainly the biggest challenge for me so far", tells Max Mauz, "and that from a technical as well as human point of view". He realises some of the largest projects at Eawag with dedication and the support of a motivated team.

Max Mauz is a trained mechanical engineer and has been heading the technical services department at Eawag since 1999. This also includes the construction and operation departments as well as the reception and the workshop. These are the backbone of the Eawag infrastructure. Max Mauz supervises 13 employees and frequently travels between the two Eawag locations Dübendorf and Kastanienbaum. "My work often demands my presence on site in order to advance projects or find a pragmatic solution with all parties involved in case of problems", says Max Mauz. What he especially likes about his job is that he is confronted with new issues every day and that he deals a lot with people. Whether it's the redevelopment of a building, the purchase of furniture or a new telephone system, technical consulting for employees as well as awarding assignments to third parties - he covers a broad spectrum of activities and frequently faces new challenges.

In his private life, Max Mauz spends a lot of time with his family and his volunteer work for the local authorities. When cooking and listening to music (heavy metal and classical music), he unwinds from his working day. He climbed the Kilimanjaro at age 50 and regrets not being able to repeat this experience due to knee surgery.
