Professor Janet Hering was appointed director in 2007. Today Eawag is an internationally recognised water research institute. Its strength and success are based on the long practice of combining research, teaching and continuing education activities, as well as consultancy and transfer of knowledge.
The combination of natural sciences, engineering and social sciences enables the comprehensive research of water and waterways, from relatively undisturbed aquatic ecosystems to completely automated waste water management systems.
