- Development of techniques for model-based statistical inference of environmental systems that account for the need of using prior information, input and model structure uncertainty, intrinsic stochasticity, and careful check of the fulfilment of statistical assumptions.
- Development and application of biogeochemical and ecological models of rivers and lakes.
- Design of models and decision analytical procedures for use of scientific knowledge and societal valuation in environmental decision support.
- Design and implementation of software that supports environmental scientists in model-based data analysis ( AQUASIM, UNCSIM ).
