Career overview

An aquatic ecotoxicologist with ten years´ experience in the field of water quality assessment by use of ecotoxicological test methods as well as analytical chemistry, I have worked at several Universities in Germany, Switzerland and Australia. I have a track record of applying a variety of in vitro and in vivo test systems and of developing new bioanalytical tests and sample extraction methods. I will soon complete my current project at Eawag about disinfection by-products in drinking water as part of a Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowship.

Key strengths
 High-level skills in a wide array of ecotoxicological tools from cell-based in vitro bioassays over in vivo test systems to monitoring the species composition of benthic macroinvertebrates for ecological quality assessment in rivers;  Experience in risk assessment of environmental contaminants by use of standardized test systems according to OECD and ISO guidelines;  In-depth knowledge of advanced wastewater treatment technologies and drinking water treatment;  Four years’ experience in on-site testing of wastewater at treatment plants in flow-through test systems;  Knowledge in sustainable water/wastewater management;  Experience in the development and validation of new test systems or sample preparation methods;  Experience in modelling mixture toxicity and quantitative structure-activity relationships
