Abstract

What motivates people to use sustainable technologies and products? Which interventions are successful in promoting them? During this summer school, honor’s students of the University of Groningen will develop a research proposal addressing a real life sustainability problem from a social perspective. On the first day of the summer school, students will visit Nest, and Nest researchers will introduce them to two of the sustainable technologies investigated there: treatment and reuse of greywater (Wouter Pronk and Eberhard Morgenroth) and a fertilizer produced from urine (Kai Udert and Bastian Etter). The subsequent days of the summer school, the students will work on a proposal to address societal and psychological issues in sustainability, guided by Nadja Contzen (University of Groningen), Jennifer Inauen (Eawag), and Angela Ruepert (University of Groningen). On the final day of the summer school, the groups will present their proposals to the Nest researchers and fellow students.
