Aquatic biodiversity - a forgotten asset

While lakes and rivers only cover 0.3% of the Earth's surface, they are home to 7% of all species - and 40% of all known fish species worldwide. However, this diversity is under threat, and measures to preserve it are urgently required. Species management is often complicated by deficient data, and Eawag is seeking to address this problem through its research and consulting on various aspects of aquatic biodiversity.
