The aquatic environment - what it provides and what it needs
Friday June 22, 2012, 9.30 - 16.40
ETH Zurich Main Building, Auditorium Maximum
The bodies of water in Switzerland provide not only ecological but also major economic services. Examples of the latter are drinking water supplies, use for energy provision and tourism. These economic services can only be provided, however, if the aquatic ecosystems are intact and can withstand the pressures of outside interference. Ensuring that these conditions are met means knowing how aquatic ecosystems function and incorporating this knowledge in the planning process. The Eawag Info Day (Infotag) 2012 was dedicated to new realizations about the function of aquatic ecosystems and demonstrating the consequences of human interference.
Note: All talks will be given in German.
