PEAK and other practice oriented courses
The practice-oriented Eawag courses (PEAK) are designed for specialists from industry, administration and engineering or environmental consultancies. They provide up-to-date knowledge and promote exchanges among participants and between theory and practice. Each year, 5–10 courses are held.
Introductory courses, in-depth courses, applied courses
Introductory courses provide the basic knowledge required to understand environmental problems and an up-to-date overview of the topic concerned. In-depth courses provide an overview of environmental problems with reference to specific examples and case studies. Applied courses teach practical methods for the detection, prevention and mitigation of specific environmental problems. The courses generally run for 2–3 days and comprise lectures, exercises and group work.
Ecotoxicology course
From 2009, the Swiss Centre for Applied Ecotoxicology is organizing ecotoxicology courses for practitioners, which will supersede the coetox (“collaboration en écotoxicologie”) courses.
General information
Each course generally forms a self-contained unit. Documentation is provided in all cases. Depending on the type of course, the fees range from CHF 300 to 450 (EUR 200 to 300) per day, including VAT, refreshments and documentation. Invitations (with a registration form) are sent to those interested around 3 months beforehand. Participants receive written confirmation of registration. Most of the courses are held at Eawag’s Dübendorf or Kastanienbaum site.
