“Understanding and modeling pollutant dynamics and biogeochemistry in lakes”

The Eawag Summer School 2010 „Understanding and modeling of pollutant dynamics and biogeochemistry in lakes“will confront PhD and outstanding master students with quantitative approaches for analysing and predicting the fate and behavior of organic chemicals and key biogeochemical components in lake systems.
Course modules will confront the molecular perspectives of pollutant partinioning and behavior and of key biogeochemical processes with the systemsanalysis perspective of lake modeling via reaction-transport models of different complexity.
The courses include substantial hands-on training with practical examples and the students are encouraged to discuss their own data analysis and modeling needs.
This course is funded through the Swiss National Science Foundation PhD program “Sustainability and management of mid sized lakes in the 21st century” and is part of its educational program.
