In conjunction with the IUVA 5th world congress in Amsterdam; Eawag from Switzerland and the International Ultraviolet Association have teamed up organizing a workshop on the various standards, regulations and policies in Europe and North America regarding the use of UV-disinfection for drinking water. /  / Experts from around the world will give an overview on the use of UV-disinfection for drinking water in their corresponding regions, covering a broad range of European and overseas countries including, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, US and Canada.

Workshop topics include but are not limited to the following:

• Importance of UV-disinfection of drinking water in various countries.
• Regulations concerning UV disinfection of drinking water in various countries.
  
• Requirements and guidelines with respect to the minimum UV dose necessary for drinking water disinfection.
  
• Integration of UV disinfection in a treatment train.
  
• Residual requirements; pros and cons.
  
• Technical requirements for a UV disinfection system to be applied in drinking water disinfection.
  
• Determination of the performance of a UV disinfection system. Approval requirements for UV systems.
  
• Guidelines for the raw water quality when UV disinfection is applied.
