Welcome
River Corridor Restoration Conference - RCRC11
Centro Stefano Franscini, Monte Verità, Ascona, Switzerland
March 13 - 18, 2011
| NEW deadline for abstracts submission: November 15th, 2010 |
Conference theme and aims
RCRC11 aims to gather the best scientists and experts from various disciplines to obtain different perspectives and better ideas on how to move our mechanistic understanding of river restoration. The following specific goals will stand in the center of this scientific exchange:
(i) Researchers that carry out experimental, laboratory- or field-based research with respect to river restoration – including investigation and monitoring strategies, contaminant transport and fate, ecological aspects and water supply issues – will be brought together with computer scientists and modelers to elaborate data needs and data generation strategies that support the development of models that predict these processes and phenomena.
(ii) Researchers from different disciplines including hydro(geo)logy, ecology, environmental chemistry, (eco)-toxicology, microbiology, geophysics and water supply will interact to develop a science-based framework for river restoration projects that covers both societal needs and ecological impacts in the environment.
(iii) To ensure a well-balanced view and to discuss the scientific aspects in light of their practical applicability, researchers will be joined by participants from industry and regulatory bodies involved in river restoration and sustainable water supply. Researchers and experts from industry and regulatory authorities interested in the topic of the conference are invited to submit abstracts for a poster or platform presentation and to register for the conference.
Conference venue
The conference will take place at the Centro Stefano Franscini, the congress center of ETH Zurich located on Monte Verità, the “Hill of Truth” rising above the lake town of Ascona, in southern Switzerland. Accommodation and all lunches and dinners will be at this truly beautiful conference site. A trip to the surrounding area, a public event and a conference dinner are planned.
