Über mich

I am a postdoctoral researcher at Eawag (Kastanienbaum), in Ole Seehausen's (Eawag/UniBE) and Niklaus Zimmermann's (WSL/ETH Zürich) research groups. My research interests are centered on understanding how evolutionary and ecological processes shape and maintain the biodiversity surrounding us. To do so, I use an integrative approach, combining disciplines (such as biogeography, phylogeography, macroevolution, and macroecology) as well as distinct sources of information (e.g. morphological, molecular, phylogenetic, and geospatial data).

Currently, I am part of the Blue-Green Biodiversity Research Initiative, an Eawag–WSL collaboration that addresses many different ecological and evolutionary questions regarding biodiversity at the interface of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. In my project, I am reconstructing the evolutionary history of biodiversity in the Alps, one of the richest biodiversity hotspots in Europe. By using an island biogeography approach, my goal is to investigate the interaction between immigration and speciation in the origins of the regional pool of aquatic and terrestrial biodiversity.
