About Me

I am interested in antibiotic resistance (AR) in terms of microbial and ecological perspectives. During my previous research experiences, I studied the dynamics of microbial community and AR during wastewater treatment processes. Here in Eawag, I am studying the anthropogenic footprint of AR in river systems. Specifically, I want to identify the impact of point-, and non-point sources on the fate of AR in Swiss rivers, and develope a predictive model for assessing human exposure to AR.

Projects

Wastewater is a source of antibiotic resistant bacteria. We study their dissemination in the aquatic environment, and strategies to remove them.
We study the reserviors, fate and exposure of antibiotic resistance in Swiss rivers and streams that receives wastewater-borne resistance bacteria.
