About Me

I am a PhD student in aquatic environmental toxicology doing research both in the lab and in the field. My main interests are surface water quality, especially with regards to chemical contamination, and the use of cell lines as in vitro alternatives to animal testing, both in chemical risk assessment and water quality monitoring.

Projects

The cell electric impedance methodology that we are developing uses the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) gut and gill cells cultured on biochips to detect toxic substances in water.
Marine mammals accumulate the greatest levels of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) due to their long life, high proportion of body fat, and top position of the marine food chain...
Fish are the most frequently used vertebrates in regulatory ecotoxicology. Numerous OECD guidelines depend on the use of fish, including OECD 203 (acute fish test), OECD 210 (early life stage toxicity test) and OECD 305 (bioconcentration test)...
Cellular epithelia are gate keepers that regulate the interaction of an organism with its surrounding environment...
