The interplay between ecological systems and social networks fascinates me. I am excited about the possibilities of jointly analyzing both ecological system dynamics and social networks in order to explore better ways of managing natural resources. A key focus of my current research lies in developing integrated network models for ecosystem governance to do this, specifically for the governance of wetlands.
Within social-ecological systems, I am particularly interested in understanding governance networks. These form in the interaction between different organizations in politics, society and the private sector surrounding governance issues. Such issues include drinking water, flood prevention or the protection of biodiversity.
In my research, I use modern analysis methods and develop innovative concepts. All of this while staying deeply rooted in the social and material context in which my analyses take place. I aim to make alternative data collection methods, such as webscraping or automated content analysis applicable to our research, rely on Bayesian data analysis methods, network models, and explore the world of machine learning and Bayesian networks.
