Drinking Water Chemistry Research Group
I have been active in the field of environmental photochemistry since I joined Eawag in 1990. Highlights of my research include studies on the role of excited triplet states as photo-oxidants in natural waters and on the effect of dissolved organic matter as an inhibitor of triplet-induced oxidations. My main current research is focused on the degradation of organic chemical contaminants by photochemical processes in surface waters, the role of dissolved organic matter as a photosensitizer and inhibitor in photodegradation processes, as well as the degradation kinetics of contaminants submitted to various types of advanced oxidation processes.
