Lake Competence Cluster (LCC)

Eawag’s Lakes Competence Network

Climate change, invasive species, intensive human use and novel pollutants pose growing challenges to the management of our lakes. At the same time, the consequences of past eutrophication continue to have an impact on many water bodies. Therefore, effective protection and sustainable use of lakes require a sound understanding of the complex physical, chemical and ecological processes in aquatic ecosystems. The Lake Competence Cluster (LCC) is a network of experts from the water research institute Eawag, whose aim is to pool this knowledge, integrate it across disciplines and make it applicable in practice. Where relevant knowledge gaps exist, the LCC initiates and coordinates new research projects in a targeted manner.
