TerraChem final conference in Berlin

June 18, 2026 | Daniel Guignard

TerraChem, a 3-year Horizon Europe project aimed at understanding chemical pollution in terrestrial wildlife, held its final project conference to present its main research outputs to various stakeholders and regulatory agencies.

At the beginning of June Daniel Guignard and Marissa Kosnik from the Systems Biology group, attended the final TerraChem meeting in Berlin. The goal of the conference was to present the project’s research outputs to project partners, policy-makers and fellow scientists. Daniel Guignard presented the results about modelling the effects of chemicals on the genetic diversity of wild populations, an aspect of chemical impact that remains poorly characterized and currently absent from regulatory frameworks.

The meeting was a great opportunity to discuss how TerraChem findings can support the work of regulatory agencies and how other levels of biodiversity could be incorporated in chemical risk assessment in the future.

It was great to see the achievements of the different partners, sharing thoughts and suggestions for the future of each other’s work.
