Info Day 2026: Energy - Water - Future
September 8, 2026, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
Swiss Museum of Transport, Lucerne
The Role of Water in the Energy Transition
The demands placed on Swiss waters by the environment and society are high, and they at times stand in conflict with one another: as part of the energy transition, hydropower utilisation is expected to be further expanded, yet ecological remediation of existing hydropower facilities is still ongoing to address current shortcomings. Climate change illustrates how important resilient water bodies would be, but at the same time it is triggering new types of water use, for example for cooling urban areas or for irrigation. With contributions from research, the Info Day will demonstrate how these requirements could be met as sustainably and innovatively as possible, and how conflicts of objectives might be addressed.
