Jennifer Inauen, group head within Eawag’s Environmental Social Sciences Department received the “Early Career Award” at this year’s European Health Psychology Society Conference in Galway. Every year, the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS) presents this award in recognition of new talent in the field of health psychology.

The “Early Career Award” is given to experts who have made a significant contribution to scientific issues in health psychology within the first five years after completing their doctorate. Outstanding achievements in professional practice are also recognized.

Since 2016, Jennifer Inauen has held a tenure track position heading up a research group in the Environmental and Health Psychology cluster in Eawag’s Department of Environmental Social Sciences. The main focus of her research is on how people deal with environmental hazards and how people’s health behaviour in their daily lives changes as a result. After completing her doctorate at Eawag and the University of Zurich, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Konstanz and the University of Zurich, followed by stints at Columbia University and New York University. The European Health Psychology Society conferred the award in recognition, partly, of her efforts to develop and apply health psychology theories and methods to safe drinking water consumption and sanitation in developing countries.

Commenting on the award, Inauen said “I am absolutely thrilled, and feel very honoured that the EHPS has awarded this prestigious prize to me”.
