Integration of mechanistic effect models on the level of the organism (e.g. toxicokinetic-toxicodynamic models) with ecological information captured in population models. Different processes dominate at different scales of biological organisation (bio-chemical vs. ecological processes) which is why we combine different types of models to achieve a more complete understanding and better risk assessment of chemicals.
