Research
Our
research activities are organized in six groups that are strongly interlinked
among each other and with most research departments at Eawag:
Systems Analysis, Surface Waters
Description
and handling of uncertainty in modelling for research and environmental
decision support. Application focus on surface water management.
Soil, Groundwater, Catchments
Understanding
and prediction of water and solutes storage and transfer in watersheds over a
range of space and time scales.
Water, Environment and Food Security
Qualitative
and quantitative modeling for integrated water, food and environment
management.
Material Flows
Modelling
and understanding the dynamics of flows and stocks in the anthroposphere
focusing on the contamination of the environmental compartments.
Ecological Modelling
Development
of mechanistic models of aquatic ecosystems. Application of these models in
environmental research and decision support for environmental management.
Mathemathical Methods in Environmental Research
Development
of stochastic models of complex natural and social systems and algorithms for
parameter inference and prediction.
