Mathemathical Methods in Environmental Research
The group „Mathematical Methods in Environmental Research“ hast two areas of research:
- Developing mathematical models for complex natural or social systems, faithfully incorporating all relevant sources of uncertainty.
- Developing and applying efficient algorithms for parameter inference, prediction and control.
In particular, we investigate
- Systems of interacting agents on complex networks (food webs, social systems).
- Emulators, i.e., a way of speeding up slow simulation programs at the cost of adding some extra uncertainty.
- Algorithms for parameter inference with stochastic models (such as Approximate Bayes Computations).
