Reinvent the Toilet Challenge
Transport Logistics
Transport Logistics
In a standardised service concept a collector, employed at a resource recovery plant (RRP), collects faeces and urine twice-weekly from the toilets and
delivers both to the RRP.

|
In order to obtain safe and hygienic working
conditions, faeces will be removed in a self-sealing container, whereas urine
will be pumped.
|
Based on GIS data of four informal settlements, stochastic modelling reveals that despite labour-intensive collection in rather complex setups, transport logistics can be safe and feasible for 1 US cent per user and day.
