The impact of chemicals on natural populations of Daphnia
Goal of this project is to introduce evolutionary concepts in the study of consequences pollutants have on organisms and ecosystems. As model system we use Daphnia and the lake Greifensee. Since Daphnia can be “resurrected” from sediment layers of up to 40 years old we can study experimentally how they have adapted to changing pollutant concentrations in the lake.
