Insights into Eawag research: 2008 Annual Report
2 June 2009
The latest Eawag
Annual Report, combining scientific and financial/operational information,
provides an up-to-date review of the wide range of activities initiated or
completed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology in
2008.
How membrane filters are being successfully used for drinking water treatment. How simple biogas plants could make a valuable contribution to waste management in developing countries. How fish are affected by sharp fluctuations in water levels downstream of hydropower plants. Or how Eawag’s research has played a key role in reducing environmental releases of herbicides from bitumen sheets. These are just a few of the topics covered by the latest report. Eawag researchers aim to promote the sustainable management of water resources in the face of growing pressures. We combine basic research with efforts to tackle emerging problems in collaboration with water professionals – both nationally and internationally.
