The department Surface Waters is involved in the following projects investigating effects of dams and hydropower production:

  • The African Dams Project ADAPT aims at investigating the effects of large dams on biogeochemical processes along the aquatic continuum from land to ocean in the Zambezi basin. [...]

Lake Brienz project

The downstream effects of the hydropower dams on Lake Brienz have recently been studied in a multidisciplinary project, ranging from physical properties like turbidity to primary productivity and fish yield. Several Eawag research groups were involved in this project. [...]
