Eddy Correlation Method (ECM)

With an Acoustic Doppler Velocity (ADV) meter coupled to a Clark-type oxygen sensor turbulent fluxes of oxygen can be determined using the eddy correlation method. Eawag applied the method on Lake Alpnach. The results were compared to both the calculated theoretical eddy sizes and timescales, as well as dissolved oxygen fluxes obtained using the LISA (Lander for ion selective analysis) oxygen microprofiles through the sediment-water interface.
