Prediction of contributing areas for diffuse herbicide losses in the Greifensee catchment
Despite the introduction of agro-ecological measures in the 90s, the herbicide losses to surface waters have been hardly reduced. Results from previous projects revealed that losses could be substantially reduced by avoiding applications to hydrologically contributing areas. This project aimed at predicting such areas based on available spatial data and simulation tools. The predictions were tested using the spatial loss data obtained from earlier experiments. Reasonable predictions possible if the connectivity between fields and stream were properly taken into consideration.
