COST Action 869 - Mitigation options for nutrient reduction in surface water and groundwaters

Losses of nutrients from agricultural soils or activities can lead to eutrophication of surface water and to deterioration of the quality of drinking water. COST Action 869 was established to build and maintain a network for researchers that want to reduce these losses.

In Switzerland, a number of people was involved in several activities including workshops and projects related to this COST Action. An informal platform fostered the exchange between these people and further persons working on nutrient issues in Switzerland. The experiences regarding mitigation obtained from the management of Swiss midland lakes was discussed during an international workshop:.
