Welcome
Our research activities concentrate on physical and chemical processes in ground and surface waters and in drinking water. The overall goal is to contribute to a sustainable water management and to be able to cope with present and future drinking water problems. Both drinking water quantity and quality are considered, including aspects of the natural capacity of water resources.
Based on a detailed understanding of basic physical, chemical and biogeochemical processes, better criteria for the assessment and modeling of water resources and improved water technologies are being developed. Within the department and in collaboration with other EAWAG departments and external groups, we conduct basic and applied research on water use and recharge, water contaminants, water treatment, and water distribution.
