Research interests

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the largest health-related issues worldwide. The capacity of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi and other pathogens) to develop resistance to the drugs used to fight them is exponentially increasing. Nowadays, waters, soils, and air ecosystems are occasionally or chronically polluted by AMR compounds. The role of the environment in promoting or hindering the dissemination of resistance through pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria is currently under study.

I am passionate researcher about environmental microbiology and its application. My major interests include the study of microbial processes as well as the application of novel techniques/analysis to quantify and trace the AMR diffusion in diverse ecosystems. The development of novel workflow of methods to set the bases for new strategy limit or prevent AMR dispersion in one of my major goal.
