My research is situated at the crossroads of social and environmental science: I am particularly interested in learning processes and interprofessional collaboration, as they develop in the context of environmental issues and the corresponding technical and social transformations.

At EAWAG, I investigate these themes alongside my activity as scientific coordinator of ENGAGE, an ETH Joint Initiative that aims at supporting science-policy dialogue. Together with Christian Stamm, I try to foster collaboration in our team of political scientists, education specialists, geneticists and ecologists to better understand how to promote an evidence-based dialogue on the trade-offs arising from two issues: New Plant Breeding Techniques, and renewable energy production as it relates to biodiversity.

Initially trained as an ecologist, with a masters in biodiversity and evolutionary biology, I took a turn towards social sciences during my PhD, focusing on how farmers learn to develop agroecological practices to limit soil erosion. I started my post-doctoral research with an incursion in the medical field: in partnership with a surgery team at the University Hospital of Geneva, we identified how training and interprofessional collaboration is affected by the robotization of surgery, and what adaptations are needed to ensure safe and efficient training of junior surgeons and specialized nurses. I went back to environmental issues with a study of the transformation of agricultural extension services to foster conservation agriculture and agroforestry in Romandie, working from a mandate by the local advisory organizations. I then joined the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche sur la Montagne at the University of Lausanne, where together with two ecologists, we developed a model of mountain socio-ecological systems as a support for transdisciplinary research in the Swiss Alps, adding a psychological component to characterize how individuals emotionally relate to mountains, and how that may affect management choices.

I joined the ENGAGE project as a senior scientist at EPFL in 2023, before taking up the scientific coordination of the project in 2024, in my current role at EAWAG.
