About Me

My primary research interest lies in developing the fundamental understanding of the interactions between the abiotic and the biotic environment in (dynamic braided) river systems and particularly how these affect river morphology and dynamics, ecology and ecosystem services.

Now, I am particularly keen to include the human impact into our biogeomorphic understanding and trying to implement this more comprehensive approach into river management and practice.

In detail, within the new Swiss “Hydropeaking mitigation” project, I will be responsible for a more programmatic and in-depth study of the recovery trajectory following hydropeaking mitigation, in close collaboration with colleagues from the Federal Office for the Environment and WaterAgenda 21.
