Over 3,000 participants visited the 23rd Stockholm World Water Week last week from 1st to 5th September. The theme of the week was “Water Partnerships”. The Swiss Water Partnership had a stand there for the first time, jointly organized by and containing information from nine Swiss organisations. Eawag was represented by Chris Zurbrügg and Christoph Lüthi, who organised a research-and-aperitif event (see picture), at which current Eawag research projects were presented to an attentive audience of specialists.
Efforts towards a specific water goal
Also attracting a great deal of interest in the specialist field was the event organised the following day by the SDC (the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) entitled “Dedicated Post-2015 Development Goal on Water”. Switzerland has set itself a specific water-goal within the context of the global sustainability goals (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs), for which three water-related problem areas are being looked at: water supply and hygiene in urban areas, integrated management of water resources, and waste water treatment and water quality.
