Swiss filmmaker Peter-Christian Fueter has won a Pardo alla Carriera at the Festival del Film Locarno, August 10, 2012.
Swiss cinema lovers probably know Fueter from the Oscar-winning Film «Reise der Hoffnung» or one of his later successes, «Grounding» or «Mein Name ist Eugen» but less people will know that one of Fueters very early works was the Eawag/VGL-film: «Abfall – Schattenseiten des Überflusses» (Waste – the dark side of abundance), produced in 1969 and its short version for cinemas «Nur so weiter…» (Just carry on…). Idea and mandate for this piece came from Eawag-director Prof Otto Jaag who was in the same time president of the Union for Water and Air Conservation (VGL). Jaag produced already in 1952 with Peter-Christian Fueters Vater, Heinrich Fueter, one of the first ever films dealing with environmental issues «Wasser in Gefahr» (Waters in danger). Congratulations to Peter-Christian Fueter! Watch the internationally awarded information-film from 1969 – with potential to reach cult status – for the first time on internet (8 min, in German only).
