About Me

Christian Binz ist ein Gruppenleiter im Cluster für Nachhaltigkeitstransitionen und Business Innovationen (CIRUS) im Departement für Umweltsozialwissenschaften an der Eawag und ein assoziierter Post-Doktorand bei CIRCLE, Lund Universität, Schweden.


Er bestand sein Doktorat in Wirtshaftsgeographie im Jahr 2012 an der Universität Bern. Christian erhielt ein 'Giorgio Ruffolo Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Sustainability Science' (2015) von der Harvard Kennedy School of Government und hat als Post-Doktorand an der Universität Lund (Schweden), der UC Berkeley (USA), der Tsinghua University (China) und an der Eawag gearbeitet.

Sein Forschungsinteresse fokussiert auf das Potential für transformativen Wandel im Wasser- und Energiesektor. Durch eine neue Kombination von Einsichten aus der Wirtschaftsgeographie, Transitionsstudien und der Nachhaltigkeitsforschung analysiert er, wie multi-skalare institutionelle Kontexte radikale Innovationen in Cleantechsektoren und Nachhaltigkeitstransitionen beeinflussen.

Projects

GLORIWA untersucht die bestehende Pfadabhängigkeiten in der urbanen Wasserwirtschaft, indem wir die Struktur der wichtigsten globalen Akteursnetzwerke sowie deren umgebenden institutionellen Rahmen untersuchen
The Lighthouse Project focuses on visible examples of onsite and decentralised urban water management systems, which will play a key role in enabling sustainability transitions.
