Sample preparation constitutes a critical step in environmental organic analysis, as the quality of a measurement depends on the quality of the sample preparation preceding it. This course presents a variety of key sample preparation techniques used in environmental organic analysis of water, sediments, and biota. Using examples from current research projects, we demonstrate how to choose the optimal sample preparation methods depending on the research questions, deal with challenges, and ensure quality control.
