Two UTOX PhD students successfully pass the aptitude colloquium at ETH Zurich

August 22, 2025 | Kehinde Olajide

On 20 May 2025, Kehinde Olajide (Kenny) and Bente Nissen presented their doctoral research projects and successfully passed the aptitude colloquium, officially confirming their admission to ETH Zurich as doctoral candidates.

Kenny’s project focuses on advancing cell line–based approaches for chemical risk assessment by investigating how temperature and species differences influence chemical toxicity in fish cell lines.

Bente’s research explores the influence of neuroactive chemicals on zebrafish larvae. In particular, she focusses on how these chemicals can alter the fish`s vertical positioning in the water column and the ability to maintain neutral buoyancy, key survival behaviors that are often overlooked.
