Umweltchemie von Biomolekülen und Schadstoffen

In meiner Forschung konzentriere ich mich auf chemische Faktoren, die relevant sind um die Wasserqualität zu beurteilen. Diese Information is besonders kritisch da der Eintrag von bioaktiven Chemikalien in unsere Gewässer zunimmt, also Chemikalien die einen Einfluss auf die Gesundheit des Menschen und das Ökosystems haben. Meine Arbeit ist in der Umweltanalytik und Umweltchemie von Enzymen, natürlichen Giftstoffen und Mikroverunreinigungen angesiedelt. Ich untersuche das Umweltverhalten von diesen Stoffen um die mögliche Exposition zu beurteilen und damit zur Risikoabschätzung dieser Chemikalien beizutragen. Die Kernexpertise meiner Arbeitsgruppe liegt in den analytischen Lösungsansätzen, die wir erarbeiten um auch komplexe Biomoleküle und deren Abbauprozesse in der Umwelt zu untersuchen. Mein Ziel ist es zu bestimmen, wie langlebig diese Substanzen in Oberflächengewässern sind, wie sie sich in der Umwelt verhalten, und welche Reaktionsprozesse zu ihrem Abbau führen können. Mein spezieller Fokus hier liegt auf photochemischen und enzymatischen Abbauprozessen.
