About Me

I am a remote sensing expert and I have specialized in lake water quality applications after studying geography. It fascinates me to observe the Earth from a satellite’s perspective, and to harness the potential of these observations for environmental sciences.

As head of the Remote Sensing Group, I investigate two overarching questions:

  1. How can we derive water quality and other environmental indicators for lakes from passive optical and thermal measurements by satellites and from ground-level platforms?
  2. Which natural processes and environmental changes can be studied with satellite data, and how can sampling and models improve the interpretation of satellite data?

Projects

How to investigate the spatial variability in lakes?
How do calcite particles form in lakes, and how do they affect the surface colour?
How can we infer the growth of algae from the natural, sun-induced fluorescence?
